Chum Sreylin was born into a poor family in Siem Reap Province. One of eight children, she is the only sibling to graduate University after receiving a scholarship to study a Bachelor of English Literature from Journeys Within Our Community (JWOC).
Sreylin’s dream is to run a small non-profit organization or work in an international non-profit organization, which she is currently doing at Child’s Dream Organisation as their field officer. Her passion being to help disadvantaged children and people through education and life skills, which is why she fits in perfectly at Human and Hope. Although very time limited, Sreylin dedicates her spare time to volunteer at Human and Hope because “I strongly believe that by volunteering will make a difference to my community so let start with me to empowering the Cambodians with a sustainable future. I always spend my free time to do volunteer work because I want to be the change I want to see in my community especially the whole world. Can you imagine how hard it is not be able to access to education or lack of opportunity to enjoy the lifetime at all. I think it is vital to know what you want to do and see in your community, and then take an action”
Sreylin believes that by volunteering and sharing her knowledge to her community, she can give hope and opportunities to help themselves in return. “It is easy to say the nice words but it is hard to do the nice things so the only way to make a difference is to take the right action. Be the change!!”
We are so proud of Sreylin and all her amazing achievements, and are lucky to have her on our team!
