Meet our Community: Nirath

Nirath with his mother at their home.

Meet *Nirath, a young boy who is full of potential and determination. Despite being the youngest of two sisters and coming from a family of farmers and fish sellers, Nirath has shown great curiosity, confidence, and intelligence.

In 2017, Nirath's mother enrolled him in our English class, but due to his young age and lack of knowledge in his native Khmer language, the education team recommended that he start with Khmer classes first. Nirath's eagerness to learn quickly became evident as he excelled in his studies and easily remembered the lessons taught in class.

Nirath's dedication to his studies is truly inspiring. He is diligent and takes pride in helping teachers with classroom chores and assisting his peers with difficult lessons. In his free time, Nirath loves to read books, play games and puzzles, and socialize with his friends. He is always eager to lend a hand to his family and enjoys helping with household chores, as well as spending time in the rice fields with his father.

Fast forward to 2022, and Nirath has completed his Khmer classes at HHA and is now in grade 5 at a public school, as well as English level one at HHA. Despite his academic achievements, Nirath remains humble and committed to his studies. He sets an excellent example for his peers, always attending classes early and reviewing lessons in the study area before class begins.

Nirath has a strong ambition to become a police officer when he grows up, and he understands that this goal will require hard work and dedication. He takes his parents' advice to study hard and get good grades very seriously and is grateful for their continued support and encouragement.
